TAKING AQUIPTA

Simple once-daily tablet1

If your doctor has decided AQUIPTA is right for you, take it as follows to help prevent migraine:1

One 60 mg tablet

Once daily, at the same time each day

With or without food

Do not stop taking AQUIPTA or change the dose without checking with your doctor.

Some people may notice improvements within the first week, while for others, the effects of AQUIPTA may build over time. If you have any concerns or are unsure about your treatment, speak to your prescribing doctor.2,3

Important things to keep in mind

If you take too much AQUIPTA1

You may need urgent medical attention. You should immediately:

  • phone the National Poisons Centre (by calling 0800 POISON or 0800 764 766), or
  • contact your doctor, or
  • go to the Emergency Department at your nearest hospital.

If you forget to take AQUIPTA1

  • Take the missed dose straight away.
  • If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the dose you missed and take your next dose when you are meant to.

Do not take AQUIPTA after the expiry date, stated on the carton and blister after EXP. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.1

Do not take a double dose to make up for the dose you missed.

Looking after AQUIPTA1

  • Store in a cool, dry place away from moisture.
  • Keep out of sight and reach of children.
  • If you no longer need to take AQUIPTA, ask your pharmacist how to safely throw it away.

Important safety information

AQUIPTA, like all medicines, has both benefits and risks. This page provides some information on the possible side effects and other safety information to keep in mind while using AQUIPTA.

Do not use AQUIPTA if:1

  • you are allergic to atogepant, or any of the ingredients listed at the end of this leaflet. Always check the ingredients to make sure you can take AQUIPTA.
  • it is past the expiry date printed on the pack.

Check with your doctor if you:1

  • have allergies to any other medicines, foods, preservatives or dyes.
  • have any liver or kidney problems.
  • take any medicines for any other condition.

Use in children, pregnancy and breastfeeding1

  • AQUIPTA is not recommended in children under 18 years of age.
  • AQUIPTA is not recommended during pregnancy. Check with your doctor if you are pregnant or intend to become pregnant.
  • Talk to your doctor if you are breastfeeding or intend to breastfeed.

AQUIPTA contains 31.5 mg of sodium (the main component of cooking/table salt) in each 60 mg tablet. This is equivalent to 1.6% of the recommended maximum daily dietary intake of sodium for an adult.2

Possible side effects to be aware of

Speak to your doctor, nurse or pharmacist if you have any of these less serious side effects and they worry you:1

  • Feeling sick (nausea)
  • Constipation
  • Tiredness (fatigue)
  • Drowsiness or sleepiness
  • Decreased appetite

Call your doctor straight away or go straight to the Emergency Department at your nearest hospital if you notice any of these serious side effects:1

Signs of allergic reaction:

  • Difficulty breathing
  • Swelling of the face
  • Itching, red rash or hives
